National Development Banks and development finance are increasing their role in channelling Official Development Aid in the Global South. The report is the outcome of a year-long research on the Belgian Investment Company for Development Countries (BIO), its governance structure, its relationship with Belgian and non-Belgian stakeholders, its investments (in agri-food and energy transition) and the processes behind accountability. Join the authors and other experts in a conversation around National Development Banks, development finance and the critical aspects of financing for development.

We are at the 18th Edition of Free Land Camp (Acampamento Terra Livre ATL in Portuguese), after two years of virtual performance, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in which we lost many of our own. However, we continue with the forces of ancestry, getting back up to return to face-to-face actions with the theme: “Retaking Brazil: Demarcate the Territories and Indigenize the Politics”. This year, we will occupy the federal capital from April 4th to 14th.

TIAA-Divest! is joining with tens of thousands of TIAA participants across the country to demand that TIAA stop financing the climate crisis and put an end to deforestation-driving agribusiness investments. We’ll deliver our demands and over 23,000 petition signatures to TIAA Headquarters in midtown Manhattan in a key moment of escalation for our campaign!

Led by the Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) since 2015, the Day of the Landless is commemorated every March 29 to gather landless rural peoples’ movements and land advocates to highlight the struggles for land in the Global South.

This year, the APC, PCFS, PANAP, International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) Commission 6, and the Rural Constituency of the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) will hold both virtual and on-ground discussions and actions with allies

Pourquoi BIO, détenue à 100% par l’État belge, finance-t-elle une multinationale de l’agrobusiness?

Comment s’organisent les communautés sur place pour faire valoir leurs droits ?

Que pouvons-nous faire en Belgique pour stopper ces accaparements de terres et faire en sorte que les communautés affectées par les financements de BIO obtiennent justice ?

Est-ce qu’une directive européenne sur le devoir de vigilance des entreprises serait utile ?

Pour discuter de ces questions, Entraide et Fraternité, en collaboration avec son partenaire malgache BIMTT, le Collectif pour la défense des terres malgaches (TANY) et la Coalition contre la faim, organisent une conférence-débat à Bruxelles le 25 mars de 14h à 16H00 au Mundo B, Rue d'Edimbourg 26, 1050 Ixelles.
