Online- Vortrag von Roman Herre (FIAN): Land Grabbing: Die globale Jagd auf Böden

Seit der Finanzkrise haben weltweit Millionen Hektar an Land den Besitzer gewechselt. Viele dieser Deals lassen sich mit dem Begriff Land Grabbing umschreiben – der großflächigen Aneignung von Land vor allem in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern. Die lokale Bevölkerung verliert ihren Zugang zu lebenswichtigem Ackerland und Wasser und ihre Menschenrechte werden verletzt.

In dem Vortrag wird nicht nur das Ausmaß der Problematik an konkreten Beispielen geschildert. Es wird speziell auf Unternehmen und Investmentfonds geblickt, die aus Deutschland heraus agieren und weltweit in Landkonflikte involviert sind.

The film "The Grab" will be made available for global streaming starting 14 June 2024. It exposes land and water grabs by a Saudi agribusiness in Arizona to produce livestock feed for dairy cattle in the Gulf, and the impact this has on local communities. Especially important is the involvement of Arizona's public pension fund in funding the operation, and the struggle for justice and accountability that people have tried to wage against this - a metaphor for our times.
