The project led by the South African company will cultivate 60,000 hectares of land in order to produce 300,000 tons of maize and 90,000 tons of soya annually.

The farm currently has 800 hectares planted with maize, 700 more than were planted in 2018 in an experimental phase, and the project’s management intends to reach production of 58,000 tonnes by 2021.
The project will utilize identified extensive arable land with clean water springs in the municipalities of Porto Amboim and Cela in Kwanza Sul and Ambaca in Kwanza Norte.
A new land law was passed to protect small-scale farmers and rural communities. But often the legal procedure is not respected and farmers lose the land on which their livelihood depends.
