Suitable land for palm-oil cultivation is running out in top producers Malaysia and Indonesia, which now account for about 85 percent of the global output. Wilmar is among several companies searching for land in West and Central Africa.

Nasako Besingi, director of environmental NGO Struggle to Economize the Future, says protests against a controversial palm oil plantation in the Korup National Park, southwest Cameroon will continue despite arrests and intimidation.
Campaigners opposed to a large palm oil plantation in a rainforest covering part of the Korup National Park in southwestern Cameroon say up to 45,000 people risk losing their livelihoods if the project proceeds.
Send a message to Herakles Farms and All for Africa demanding they stop destroying tropical rainforest and local livelihoods and ask the Government of Cameroon to listen to the voices of the Cameroonian people.
