An action of solidarity with the communities affected by SOCFIN's plantations in Africa and Asia was carried out in Luxembourg today during the multinational's General Assembly. About 10 activists participated in the GA to denounce the situation and demand immediate action.
In a complaint filed today, 22 Liberian indigenous villagers say the Salala Rubber Corporation is using World Bank money to expand and operate its Liberian plantations through illegal land grabs, sexual violence and intimidation of human rights defenders.

In France, the holding company Socfin and its Cameroonian subsidiary Socapalm, both affiliated with Bolloré Group, sued journalists and nongovernmental groups who reported on villagers’ protests against the companies’ palm oil plantations in their communities and land.
