After almost three years of negotiations that involved governments, civil society organisations (CSOs) and other groups, the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security was officially endorsed on 11 May 2012 by the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The government of Pakistan is open to lease out its agricultural land to foreign bidders, Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Mohammad Gondal told the National Assembly on Wednesday.
"Agriculture companies from Germany and the United States have also shown interest in developing a project in Iraq, but nothing is final yet," said Sami R Al Araji, the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission
