Land registry law published

The law on the state land cadastre was published in the parliamentary newspaper Holos Ukrainy and will take force on 1 January 2012.

The document provides for the abolition since 2013 of the issuance of state acts on the ownership of land.

Having adopted the relevant law in second reading and on the whole July 7, the parliament resolved the issues of inventory and determined the procedure for state registration of land. In particular, the list of documents on land management and land evaluation was made to be used for entering data into the land register.

The registry will contain data on physical characteristics of the earth: shape, size, location, boundaries, assessment, quality of soil, contamination of each plot.

It is expected that the document will help organize rational use and protection of land, land management and land value accounting.

The adoption of this law is a prerequisite for the introduction of farmland sales market.

The State Agency of Land Resources intends to launch an electronic land registry ahead of schedule before late autumn, although according to plans it must begin work on January 1, 2012.
