Le React et le collectif citoyen en France contre l’accaparement des terres vous invitent à échanger avec Emmanuel Elong, porte-parole de synergie nationale des paysans et riverains des plantations du Cameroun (Synaparcam). Présent en France pour témoigner dans le cadre de procès en diffamation que les groupes Bolloré et Socfin intentent à la chaîne de télévision France 2, Mediapart, et les ONG Sherpa et React, Emmanuel Elong exposera la situation autour des six plantations de la Socapalm, filiale camerounaise de Socfin-Bolloré et expliquera les combats des paysans et riverains affectés.

Caravane ouest-africaine sur le droit à la terre et l’eau

La Convergence globale des luttes pour la terre et l’eau (CGLTE-TOGO), annonce une caravane qu’elle organisera du 10 au 30 novembre prochain dans plusieurs pays de l’Afrique de l’ouest. La caravane sera consacrée à sensibiliser et plaider autour du droit à la terre et l’eau dans les communautés rurales, ainsi qu’aux questions du changement climatique.

Farmland grab: Canadian pension funds' role

Pension funds are influential actors in global finance, managing more money than all sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds and private equity funds combined. Canada has some of the world's biggest pension funds and increasingly they are investing in farmland – both in Canada and in the Global South. Panelists will explore the impacts of this on farmers using a case study of one investment in Brazil and research on the situation in Canada, followed by discussion.
