Investing in natural capital: The case for Chilean farmland
Since December 2024, Toesca has partnered with Astarte Capital Partners, a London-based global firm specializing in sustainable real assets and natural capital. This collaboration unites Astarte’s international perspective with Toesca’s local capabilities to build a distinctive agricultural investment platform anchored in regenerative practices.
Alejandro Montero, Chairman of Toesca, is pleased to announce Toesca’s Inaugural Conference: Investing in Natural Capital: The Case for Chilean Farmland, to be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Centric Santiago (Las Condes, Santiago).
The event will bring together leading voices to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Chilean agriculture, as well as global trends in sustainable investment.
According to AgriInvestor:
"Astarte Capital Partners and Toesca Asset Management have held a $100 million first close on their joint regenerative agriculture fund, which has a $350 million fundraising target. The permanent crops vehicle, Toesca Permanent Crops II, was launched in Q4 2024 and was seeded with $45 million from both firms. Astarte managing partner Stavros Siokos told Agri Investor the fund has been backed by institutional investors from Europe (50 percent), Australia (20 percent), North America (20 percent) and Chile (10 percent). Astarte and Toesca will underpin their portfolio with a range of crops, including avocados, citrus, hazelnuts, plums and cherries. Toesca Permanent Crops II has a net IRR target of 17 percent .... The firms will target a portfolio of roughly 70 percent greenfield assets on which they can build new regenerative farms, with the remaining 30 percent made up of already-yielding assets. Roughly 80 percent of the fund will be deployed in Chile, with Peru accounting for 20 percent."
