Southern Harvest buys 2,700 hectares of farming land in Romania

Southern Harvest Company, a subsidiary of the American investment fund Anholt Services, announced on Thursday the purchase of 2,700 hectares of farming land in Romania following two separate transactions, PRNewswire informs. Following these purchases, the land area owned by Southern Harvest in Romania grew by 45%. The company shows that an important area of the new lands is organically grown and intends to continue working the land in the same way.

Rudolph Krediet, an Anholt Servises partner, said they were glad they could increase operations in Romania in a significant way. That was proof of the confidence in their local managerial team to identify, purchase, integrate and improve new areas. Moreover they consider approaching the segment of organic agriculture as part of their efforts to identify the best use for their farms.

In April 2014, when Romania liberalized the sale of farming land to foreign private persons, Southern Harvest purchased 6,000 hectares of tillable land in Romania in Botosani county.
