Cargill is selling its $48.8 million poultry farm and processing plant in Anhui province to DCP Capital, a Beijing-based private equity firm with Singapore's GIC and Temasek as investors, and the Canadian pension fund CDPQ
The fruit export company received $130m from Canadian private-equity firm Cordiant Capital to grow its production land area to 1,200ha of avocados and 900ha of table grapes.
On the Canadian prairies, some worry about a future where two or three massive farms, or investors, control most of the land in a municipality.
