Cambodian government yesterday gave green light to a Chinese-owned firm, Longmate Agriculture Co Ltd, to invest in a banana plantation in Kampot province. Three plantatios cover 5,000 hectares of land that can produce up to 14,000 tonnes of bananas according to Cambodia General Director of Agriculture.

EU delegation is in Cambodia on fact-finding mission to evaluated the issue of displaced peoples locked in land disputes with several sugar companies across the country particularly in Koh Kong, Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces.
Each family agreed, with mixed feelings, to accept two hectares of land and $3,000 to end the years-long land dispute between villagers and sugar companies
