Iran government official says Iran is currently using some 0.228 million hectares of land for farming in other countries, including Brazil, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia and that private Iranian companies have also launched overseas farming projects in Ghana, Armenia and Pakistan.

Iran's seventh development plan calls for extra-territorial cultivation of food crops this year on 400,000 ha in Iraq, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Africa and Latin America.
