A organização moçambicana Justiça Ambiental considerou "preocupante e perigoso" que o governo atribua "de uma só vez" 60 mil quilómetros quadrados de terra aos agricultores brasileiros, alertando para o perigo de violação dos direitos da população camponesa.

In recent years, Mennonite Christians have been joined by Brazilian ranchers and private European investors, mainly from France, Germany and the Netherlands, to partake in a 21st Century land rush that has wiped out 1m hectares - nearly 10% of the forest - in just four years.
China, the second-largest buyer of soy in the world wants an end to intermediation by U.S multinational companies working in the sector and plans to invest purchasing directly from farmers in Mato Grosso and another five states in Brazil.
Mozambique invites Brazilian soy, corn and cotton growers to plant on its savanna and introduce their farming know-how to sub-Saharan Africa, the head of Mato Grosso state's cotton producers association Ampa said on Monday.

O governo de Moçambique está oferecendo uma área de 6 milhões de hectares - equivalente a três Sergipes- para que agricultores brasileiros plantem soja, algodão e milho no norte do país.
To attract foreign capital into the agricultural sector, but still maintain control of the amount of land held by overseas interests, the Government is considering establishing a new administrative path towards the granting of land sale to foreigners.
Restrictive legislation on the selling of land will continue to be null and void so long as foreigners can rent farm land -- the ‘leasing loophole’.
