On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the GTZ Sector Projects “Land Management”, “Agricultural Policy and Food Security“ and the Future Initiative “AgroInvest” have published a new study about „Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Land in developing countries“.
This study focuses on these challenges and attempts to analyse the so far existing FDI in land. It aims to broaden the understanding of the complexity of FDI in land in order to provide for better-targeted ways of addressing those investments. The main study presents background information, causes and impact chains. Recent developments concerning large-scale land acquisition are presented on the basis of four case study countries - Cambodia, Lao PDR, Madagascar and Mali.
