Sultanate looks to invest in Iran's agriculture sector

Deputy Head of Oman's Batinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hafiz bin Nasser al Rabiei, said that the aim of Omani delegation's visit to Iran was to scout for investment opportunities in agricultural sector of Khuzestan province and other parts of the country. In Khoramshahr city, he told correspondents that the Omani delegation will get acquainted with Iranian businessmen and explores areas for joint venture projects in Arvand Free Zone. He expressed hope that considerations and coordination would lead to development of trade ties between Iran and Sultanate of Oman and prepare the ground for investment by Omani businessmen in Khuzestan province.

On the other side, Ahmed Shareefat, the head of industry and agriculture committee in Khoramshahr city, said after a meeting with Omani traders that one million palm saplings will be cultivated in Khoramshahr and their output will be exported to Oman. He added that there was no deal signed between both sides but all Iranian regulations and laws were explained to the Omani delegation. Shareefat, by expressing the need to simplify investing procedures in Iran, said that investment laws and regulations in the country seemed a little bit difficult for Omani traders.
The head of industry and agriculture committee in Khoramshahr city declared that it was agreed upon to provide Omani businessmen with lands and waters and after receiving the products prices will be decided. He said one of Omani delegation's requests was the process of exporting building materials to Sultanate of Oman in accordance to International standards. The Twenty-five member delegation from Sultanate of Oman arrived in Ahvaz city last Monday and so far they have had meetings with Khuzestan governor, Ahvaz mayor and a number of businessmen from the province. The Omani delegation is expected to travel to Bushehr and Shiraz cities.
