Canadian investors to sell six NSW farms
by Tallis Miles
Canadian investors are preparing to offload a sprawling aggregation of NSW farms, spanning more than 4200ha in the state’s Central West.
Altora Ag has listed the 4231ha Caringbah Aggregation for sale, offering six properties located in the Grenfell, Caragabal and Quandialla districts.
Altora Ag is the broadacre cropping arm of PSP Investments- the mammoth Canadian pension fund considered the largest farmland owner by value in Australia.
Headed up by PSP Investments’ real assets and global head of natural resources investments, Marc Drouin, the superannuation giant has amassed a huge land and water portfolio worth more than $8.5bn since arriving on Australian shores less than a decade ago.
Backed by the funds from Canada’s armed forces and the world-famous Royal Canadian Mounted Police, PSP Investments’ majority owned cropping enterprise, Daybreak Cropping and BFB merged together to create Altora Ag, Australia’s largest broadacre agribusiness spanning almost 180,000 arable hectares.
The Caringbah Aggregation was acquired in 2018, spanning a total arable area of 10,292ha across 12 properties located 30km from Quandialla.
However, in an effort to optimise their landholdings, Altora Ag is selling an assortment of non-contiguous holdings run as part of the larger Caringbah Aggregation.
On the market are the adjoining 786ha Woodlands and 723ha Buckaroo plus the 254ha Mayfair.
The 713ha Beena, 595ha Homelands 1 & 2 and 710ha Part Eurabba-EU4 have also been listed for sale.
Inglis Rural Property agents Sam Triggs, Liam Griffiths and Hamish Cooke have been appointed to sell the Caringbah Aggregation as a whole, or as individual lots, via an expressions of interest campaign closing May 27.
“The Caringbah Aggregation is an opportunity to secure a significant footprint or individual holding in one of New South Wales most prized mixed farming districts,” Mr Triggs said.
“Each property presents in excellent condition, with a full moisture profile to be sown to cereal crops. Standing crops are negotiable, offering immediate cashflow.”
Earlier this year Altora Ag paid $12.5m for the 3065ha dryland property Minnel, 16km north of Toobeah in southern Queensland.
Altora Ag runs the nearby 11,228ha Kinbeachie Farms, located 50km west of Goondiwindi, near Toobeah, which were listed for sale for $65m-plus in 2024.
The Kinbeachie farms have not since been sold.
