Global land grab hits world's poor

By Brent Gregston

In 10 short years enough land to grow food for a billion hungry people has been sold off in developing countries, according to Oxfam. Much of the land is being used for the production of biofuels, or left idle by speculators, the aid group says and it is urging the World Bank to freeze its investments in large-scale land deals. Oxfam campaigner Ben Phillips says the global land grab is hurting the world's poorest people.
