Show Notes:

Africa is one of the key targets of a rush by investors to acquire more land. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have been actively involved in the internal politics of African countries for a number of years, but now they have been joined by corporations and the U.S. government. The land is easy to take control of because of the traditional system of ownership that exists in many African countries. Frederic Mousseau is policy director at the Oakland Institute in California.
