Chinese investors urged to invest in agri sector

ISLAMABAD, Nov 24 (APP):A Chinese company, said to be that  country’s biggest agriculture company in private sector, wants to acquire 10,000 acres of farmland in Pakistan on lease to grow fruits and vegetables. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri, said during a meeting with the delegation of the leading Chinese company, China Green, that Pakistan had huge potential and scope for investment and profits in the agro-based industry.

Zehri said that Pakistan offered an excellent opportunity for investment in the agriculture sector and foreign investors would be welcome to invest in the sector.
“We are ready to facilitate foreign investors and provide them all the required assistance. There is a huge potential and scope to invest and earn profits in the agro-based industry. Pakistan has different climatic regions that suit to grow almost all types of fruits and vegetables. We welcome our Chinese brothers to invest in Pakistan with full confidence and trust”, said the minister.

The delegation presented their credentials and claimed to be the largest private company in the agriculture sector of China.

The representative said that the company is interested to initially get 10,000 acres of land on lease.

The company would grow different fruits and vegetables employing the local farmers.

The farm houses would have its own processing units equipped with the latest agricultural machinery.

Technology transfer will help in modernizing the local agriculture sector of Pakistan.

Mr. Zehri assured the visitors to provide maximum assistance in facilitating the company to launch business in Pakistan.

He thanked the delegation for coming over to explore business opportunities in the country.

Managing Director Pakistan Bait ul Maal, Mr. Zumrud Khan accompanied the delegation.
