Egypt pledges 10,000 acre irrigation project for Wau

Egypt’s government has pledged to implement a model farm project occupying 10,000 acres in Wau in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state, according to South Sudan's embassy in Cairo.

This development came after joint talks between the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Husam Mughazi and Western Bahr el Gazal governor Rizig Zachariah Hassan who is visiting the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The meeting was also attended by South Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt Anthony Kon and Western Bahr el Ghazal State Minister of Agriculture Adil Antazio.

Governor Rizig said Western Bahr el Ghazal is the only state which benefited from technical cooperation projects between Egypt and South Sudan in the area of irrigation.

The official visit by the governor to Egypt was fruitful, reads a statement issued by South Sudan embassy in Cairo.
